About DSL Broadband
Broadband Internet access is always on and ready to use. DSL
shares your telephone line and requires a DSL modem. You'll most
often need landline telephone service to get DSL, although some
companies will let you order DSL without having to buy local
and long distance telephone service.
About Cable Broadband
Cable Internet shares a Cable TV line, although you can often
get Cable broadband without subscribing to television service
if you prefer over the air or satellite reception. Cable broadband
requires a Cable Modem. The fastest services need a DOCSIS 3.0
modem, which can often be purchased through the Cable companies
or your local big box electronics store
About Satellite Broadband
Satellite Broadband uses a separate dish from satellite television
services, although they look a lot alike. One difference is that
the broadband satellite dish both transmits and receives, so
you don't need a phone line to get broadband service. Satellite
broadband works in nearly every USA location, even in rural areas
where there is no DSL or Cable TV service. The latency or time
delay caused by communicating with geosynchronous satellites
makes this service unsuitable for VoIP or very fast action interactive
gaming.
Note: Do you have a serious
need for broadband Internet or private line connections at a
business rather than a residential location? If so, use our business line inquiry form
instead of the residential form on this page.
